Life is a Cabaret
Sorry for the lack of updates. I may be going through the most interesting yet simultaneously boring period of my life I have ever experienced. I'm sure you're scratching your head and wondering how that works. Its all about work really, which is a very boring topic to everyone but myself. I've run through a lot of hoops for this application with Synergy culminating in a psychometric assessment I drove all the way to West Perth at 8 o'clock on a Saturday morning for, knowing my chances of actually landing the job are about equal to a snowman's chance in hell. Progress at BD has stalled as well, as a meeting to discuss their "concerns about the direction and progress" about my training resulted in me tellign them everything that I had a problem with, them getting angry and telling me that unless I show them that I "whole heartedly believe in the values of the company" they wouldn't progress with my training any further. These values being small, but opposite beliefs of the extent of what constitutes good customer service and what constitutes being pushy and annoying. Which is apparently a real pity because apparently they've already planned out my career path, which actually, from the tantalizing glimpses they've given me, actually doesn't really involve the retail front and is more into the corporate sector of BD. To summarise, essentially "toe the company line and we'll get you out of here, if you don't like it you can leave, and by the way the arbiter of whether you've shown if you believe in these values or not is the one person in the store you don't get along with".
So I'm no better off than I was before. Hence the lack of updates. Everything and nothing has really changed, and I want to give some kind of closure when I tell a tale. One good thing though. It looks like I'm the first person to actually oppose Emma on anything (as opposed to being terrified of her like everyone else), and I think deep down she's now got a respect for me that wasn't really there before, amid the seething layers of hatred and malice. The one problem everyone mistakes with asians is that we're all automatically assumed to be quiet people that are too afraid to voice their opinions at all. Asians 1, White people 0.
