Ok, so I get this email from Friendster saying I've got this message from one 'LilLady'. I'm thinking it's just spam for internet porn, and being naturally curious I open it up to read anyway, because really there's always room in life for more internet porn. Some girl is asking me to hang out with her because she's from the US and she read my profile and likes what she reads or something. The thing is, it actually seems genuine. There's no link for internet porn (much to my disappointment), and my infamous curiousity is making me want to find out if she is for real. And if she is for real, the nice guy in me is guilting me into actually meeting this girl, who seems to be reaching out for some friendship/companionship, while the (probably rational) part of me wants nothing to do with random girls from the internet.
Anyway, here's the message in it's entirety (minus her email):
Hi Jason. How are you? I was just browsing some people around the area and came across your profile. I'm new around here, actually not too sure how long i'm gonna be here. I am from the United States and i'm basically here for my job but i'm also doing some schooling. I know I will be here a few months at least, possibly more. Anyway, I just joined friendster and was just looking for some friends, people to hang out with while I am here. Your profile caught my attention so I wanted to contact you. Would you wanna chat sometime? Get to know each other and hang out sometime? That would be cool.I also have a lot more pics I can let you see if you want.If you're interested I tell you what...If you don't mind, why don't you email me at my regular address. The whole 'more pics thing' still has me suspicious, but eh, I'll let you guys see what you can make of it.
Opinions welcome, I'm probably going to put off thinking about this for a week before making a spur of the moment decision. Think of this as a fun activity.
Nothing new to report, except I've GRADUATED, so it's the big bad world for me now, instead of the laxity of tertiary education. I've been invited to an elite group of 8 to paintballing by George to celebrate his birthday, (and it's all paid for, what a champion) so it sounds like it's going to be fun times this sunday. Someone bring a camera, my parents took mine when they went to China. Oh yeah, Jus's and Sarah's respective 21sts were fun, and I hope they had fun too :P No photos because I had to format my comp about a week ago, wiping Jus's party photos, and my parents took mine with them on their trip (as stated earlier) so I couldn't take any at Sarah's. Sucks I know =/. Hope everyone isn't too stressed out by the Christmas season, and hopefully I'll update this blog more often when I have something interesting/important to say. I wanted to talk on the whole racism issue sparked by the riots in Sydney (as you might've guessed from my earlier post), but I think it's something I might speak of later when it's died down a bit.
Harry Potter: The Goblet of Fire movie is pretty good, and The Lion, the With and the Wardrobe looks really good too, and by all accounts is an excellent movie, so hopefully I can convince some of you to come with me. jase-dont mean to burst your bubble but from the point of view of someone who does this type of thing often--> This is a generic post that she has sent to everyone who has a profile she's slightly interested in :(
However, you want to puruse this (i would encourage it :p )you need to ask details-age and a picture are your number one priorities but i suppose if all you are seeking is friendship then ask what she enjoys doing.
Remember- You can only have 1 live conversation over MSN or whatever before you have to meet up. IF not, nothing will ever happen :)

and you're looking at this the wrong way Jus :P its not a dating service, she's just a foreigner in a new place where she doesn't know anyone. I'd just be making her feel more at home.
But thanks for the advice Jus, I heart you. I'll talk to you about it this weekend. Hey if you read this in time can you give me a ring about the xmas dinner?
