U.S Elections

as I type this its 172-112 in favour of Bush

Of course, it looks like Bush is going to win, which I predicted months ago, and I would be surprised if he didn't win, considering he's the better choice out of the two

Difficult to believe, I know, but it's true

UPDATE: TOO CLOSE TO CALL

Bush will still win, imo

why? its called conservative america folks. American conservatism has grown since 11/9 and Bush offers to many AMericans what they truly want; security. Kerry just doesn't offer that, despite his other qualities, and its what will cost him the election. Who can blame him? The US public is bombarded everyday with several warnings on how theres a terrorist danger, potential attack, and other assorted keywords that quite obviously make ordinary citizens insecure. No one remembers Enron, or the other economic disasters on his watch. No one remembers the giant clusterfuck that was Florida and the 2000 elections. Who will wave those "Hail to the Thief" banners now? Conservative America is now more than ever a major electoral power, and Bush obviously appeals to that, as well as his middle class policies to which a majority of them are in conservative white surburban america.

Control through fear Ladies and Gentlemen, and its an age old tactic. And, guess what it fucking works.

Don't get me wrong though. Bush is the better choice. Quite simply, because you don't change commanders in the middle of battle. Lets face it, we're in a war right now, whether we like it or not, and you can thank Johnny Howards Pro Yank policies for that. And while we'll won't know at the moment, it is quite possible that if Kerry was to win, he could fuck things up even more. Not just for America, but for the "Coalition of the Willing", which boasts the Commonwealth of Australia as a member, ie us.

Let me construct a hypothetical scenario;

Kerry wins, and first on the agenda, orders the pull out of all American troops out of Iraq. Without American man or firepower to uphold it, the Iraqi Government collapses. Fundamental Shiite clerics and their factions take over, or even worse, degenerate into a hotbed of conflict as rival clerics/factions war with each other for control. Iraq becomes a haven and training ground for future generations of terrorists, all of them pissed off at their western invaders, ie UK US and us. Iraqi instability has spillover effects to the middle east, increasing the prices of oil, and causes world recession.

Hell, who knows, we could lose the whole fucking middle east to those fundie ragheads, and then we'd be proper fucked.

Its highly unlikely, but it could happen.

I know I'm using a lot of profanity, but it pisses me off that so many people jump the "We hate Bush" bandwagon without thinking, just because everyone else does it. If it's one thing I hate nowadays, it's this whole world and their retarded sheep mentality. You have to think about the consequences. Sure, the guy might be dumb, the guy might have stirred up a virtual hornet's nest, but without him, we could be worse off. And changing Presidents now may be like switching firemen while the house is on fire; sure, the new guy may do it better, but chances are he doesn't know whats going on, and end up doing worse.

However, don't think for one moment I love Bush. The guy is an idiot, and I often wonder how Al Gore might've handled things. However, we'll never know now, so we're going to have to make do as best we can.

Some of you may think it's a trivial thing to be worked up about, but these elections will shape the world for years to come, beyond the nominal four year Presidential term. As humans, we're shortsighted, selfish creatures, but we shouldn't revel in it.
